Do I need valuation coverage?

Having valuation coverage is a way to give you added protection and peace of mind during your move. If you have especially valuable items, you may want to go above the standard 60 cents per pound offering.

You will have a clear understanding of what valuation is after a discussion with your move coordinator – generally, it provides extra coverage for item loss or damage while in the mover’s care or possession. Learn more about valuation coverage in our blog post on the topic.

Can I choose any day to move my belongings?

You can choose your load date, but keep in mind that in order to have a guaranteed delivery date, it may come at an extra cost. Most likely, your Charlotte move coordinator will discuss with you a delivery window that works within your budget and moving timeframe. Certainly, there are options to look at, and your move coordinator is the best person to work with to figure out what is best for you.

How can I best prepare for my move?

I would say that all successful moves start with a plan, especially if you’re planning an interstate move. As a local moving company, our goal would be to make your move as stress-free as possible. So, once you book your move, you'll receive a relocation packet from your move coordinator. It will have thorough moving checklists that will help you plan.

You should organize your house, trying to purge things that are not going. Throw away all your flammable items, like fireworks, poison, and aerosol cans, and drain all the gas from your mowers. You should talk to your neighbors about parking on move day and communicate to your coordinator if it's going to be an issue.

What is a common issue for moving in Charlotte and how do you deal with it?

Sometimes in downtown Charlotte, parking permits, elevator reservations or spacing is an issue, and we need to bring in a shuttle. But we have a great relationship with a lot of the property managers in the city, as well as the Charlotte City Manager, and we're familiar with most all the locations that require parking permits or shuttles.

A lot of streets - not just in the downtown area, but even around the suburbs - require parking permits. If you're on a main road, we would check with the city manager to make sure that we have the correct parking permits.

What if you break something? How do I submit a claim?

We do rigorous training and have put robust processes in place to minimize risk of damaging any of your belongings. However, in the event something does become damaged during a move, the first thing you'd want to do if you discover that something is damaged is to contact your move coordinator.

They’ll send you an online claim packet which will initiate the process. Once it’s submitted to our claims department, you’ll receive a confirmation from one of our personal adjusters who will handle your claim promptly.

What are my different options for a moving estimate? How can you simplify the process for me?

We have several options depending on what your needs are. We have the ability to do either a virtual walkthrough, or an in-home survey and both are totally free to you. For a virtual walkthrough, as long as you have a device like a phone or tablet and wi-fi, we can give you a moving quote. If you are moving a large house, or have a lot of questions about the process, I would suggest scheduling an in-home survey. However, a virtual walkthrough is very accommodating when you can fit it into your schedule.

What do you do to ensure my items and property are safe and secure during the moving process?

Safety begins with proper training. We send all our drivers to Suddath University in our Jacksonville, FL branch. Not only do they learn soft skills like how to greet customers, but there are classes on how to properly do paperwork, and our strict processes on packing and loading.

We invest a lot into the success of our employees, including five-star background checks that we run and file with United Van Lines. They are all issued an identification number and we make sure that they have the very best equipment available to them.

Most importantly, and we talk about this every day, we handle your property like it belongs to us. Again, it goes back to our culture and values – we are dedicated to training our employees and making sure that they have the right tools to do their job correctly.

When your goods leave the hands of our employees and are stored in our warehouse, you can rest assured that they are still safe. Our Charlotte warehouse property is 15 acres, completely fenced, and has 16 different cameras wired into a security and fire suppression system.

What advice or moving tips can you provide in selecting a Charlotte mover?

Check the Better Business Bureau for the rating of the company and make sure that the moving company is registered with the FMCA and they have a valid DOT number. Don't pay large deposits. Check online reviews and references before you make a decision. Cheaper is not always better when hiring Charlotte movers.

Do you have an executive move service offering?

That program includes not only an on-site project manager, but also an account manager that is dedicated and available round the clock. Timelines and milestones are blueprinted out, and we have support services as well as a vendor contact reference list to offer. On top of that, you’re able to hand-select your van operator and crew assignment, if you so choose.

If I'm looking for office relocation, what services do you offer?

In an office relocation project, you would work with a dedicated move coordinator who has the experience to anticipate and avoid any potential issues or delays.

If you have warehousing needs, we have a 50,000-square-foot warehouse that is secure, clean and comes with a state-of-the-art warehouse management system. The system tracks all your items in and out of the warehouse. Within our portal, the customer can go in and view when an item is scanned into the final storage location, scanned out and scanned back on to the truck.
