What TWO MEN AND A TRUCK can’t move during the home moving process

With the start of May means one very important thing: it’s officially National Moving Month!

As you might imagine, this is a big deal for us at TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® as we get our moving teams geared up and ready to help customers with their moving needs not only in May, but all summer long. National Moving Month pairs up with the start of our busy moving season and schedules are filling up fast. So, if you’re thinking of using us for your upcoming move, be sure to reach out and get your move booked!

There’s a lot to think about when organizing and preparing for a move – this includes packing, buying a home, scheduling movers, figuring out what will stay and what will go, and much more – but one area that often gets overlooked is what items can’t be moved. This is important to know so you don’t find yourself scrambling when your moving team arrives.

What can’t be moved by TWO MEN AND A TRUCK? Let’s review!

Prescription drugs and medicine

This is more of a precaution than anything, but we don’t move any prescription drugs or medicines to avoid an emergency situation where a customer would need them and it’s packed away on our trucks. Always pack these items with you and prepare to transport them on your own.

Anything living (animals or pets)

A good rule of thumb when preparing to move is that if it’s alive, we can’t move it. This is for safety reasons, as it’s not safe for an animal or plant to be in the back of a moving truck.

Machine or gas engine items

TWO MEN AND A TRUCK cannot move anything containing gasoline. Tractors, lawn mowers, grills, smokers, or mopeds need to be emptied of their gasoline prior to moving day. We’d highly recommend talking this over with a moving consultant beforehand to ensure everyone is on the same page about an item of this nature being moved.

Flammable items

This isn’t just a TWO MEN AND A TRUCK rule – it’s federal law that antifreeze, ammunition, car batteries, propane, paint, household cleaners, and weed killers are not to be transported in a moving truck.

Sentimental items

We do not move cash, jewelry, insurance papers, birth certificates, or any other sentimental items when completing a move. This prevents anything of this nature from getting misplaced or damaged and saves you the stress of worrying about getting these items to your new home.
