Last year, TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® launched the pilot of what the company hoped would become a national solution to provide customers with a new, affordable, long-distance moving option. Up until then, consumers looking to move long distances have not had a great customer service solution from a nationally certified moving company providing them with the assurance that their belongings would arrive safely to their new address. Less than a year after the pilot launched across four cities, the system has proved successful, and TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® is proud to announce the expansion of its trusted service by offering this new, long-distance move solution in 16 logistics hubs, with the capabilities to move even more customers across the U.S. from point A to point B.
“Over the past few years, we’ve looked at options to use different equipment and a different model to better serve our customers who want to utilize our services for long-distance moves,” said COO Jon Nobis. “Ultimately, what we knew is that we are very good at professional loading and unloading, taking care of customers’ belongings, and reducing stress for customers during their move. If we were able to find a way to transport those belongings more efficiently across the country, we would tap into an entirely new market with our same great service.”As a franchise brand consisting of more than 350 individually owned and operated locations across the U.S., the cross-functional team that included franchisees mapped out the logistics and created a business model that allows the franchises to work together to offer consumers the same top-notch service they are used to on local level.
“Previously, we had been priced out of many long-distance moves as certain customers were not in need of time-sensitive, expedited service,” said Nobis. “Our new solution not only makes these moves more affordable for everyone involved, but customers also get the quality-assurance they’ve come to expect from TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® across extended distances.”
TWO MEN AND A TRUCK®’s value and flexibility service — officially called Value Flex® – was the missing piece to the company’s current long-distance offerings. TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® has always offered an expedited move service, which transports a customer’s belongings directly to their new residence. As a cost-saving solution for customers, the Value Flex® service offers a reduced price on long-distance moves by efficiently planning move logistics. A Value Flex® move utilizes the service of a dedicated TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® long-haul carrier to transport the container to another TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® franchise near the customer’s final destination. From there, that local TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® team will make the delivery and unload items at the customer’s new location.
But what really sets TWO MEN AND A TRUCK®’s new Value Flex® service apart, in addition to its technique, is the traditional commitment to customer service and providing customers with another option to fit their moving needs. After nearly a year of research, Nobis explained the brand invested in a customized moving container that had the ability to disconnect from the truck itself. This would enable long-distance drivers to carry the sturdy, 16-foot container — which was designed so it won’t tilt load to ensure all belongings stay intact — across the country. Each container is secure throughout the duration of the move, and also comes equipped with GPS so TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® can easily track the status of a customer’s move throughout the process.
For the pilot, TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® introduced the Value Flex® service in Cincinnati, Atlanta, Orlando and Lansing. When a customer moves from Cincinnati to Orlando, for example, the Cincinnati franchise would load the container and ship it out with the long-haul carrier. Then, the Orlando-based franchise would take care of the final unloading process. Nobis says it’s ultimately a partnership between trusted and proven franchisees who share in the company’s commitment to customer service.
TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® West Orlando General Manager Ryan Wells said his team is proud and excited to offer this new service to customers as there’s a large demand in the industry for affordable and trustworthy long-distance moving services. They’ve moved several Value Flex® customers already who have been thrilled with their service.
“We have had great customer feedback regarding our Value Flex® moves this past year!” said Wells. “We still strive to exceed the customers’ expectations whether they are moving in a truck or a container. We’ve had several Value Flex® customers tell us they had always hired TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® to move locally, but could not afford our traditional long-distance, expedited service. By offering Value Flex®, we are now able to keep these customers TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® customers for life!
This May, TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® is expanding the service to include an additional 12 logistics hubs to the four original locations. Cities that will now offer Value Flex® include Memphis, Tennessee; Rockford, Illinois; Greensboro, North Carolina; Toms River, New Jersey; Rocky Hill, Connecticut; Pasadena, California; Phoenix, Arizona; Salt Lake City, Utah; Omaha, Nebraska; Dallas, Texas; Denver, Colorado and Minneapolis, Minnesota.
“This is allowing us to expand our proven service model to a whole new group of customers who will be able to use our highly respected customer service for a long-distance move,” said Nobis. “It’ll improve upon what’s already in place, kick up efficiency and incorporate enhanced technology to make long-distance moves smoother than they’ve been in the past. Customers now have another option when they choose our services, making TWO MEN AND A TRUCK® more accessible than ever before.”
